Today meet Emerald Cancer-Jackson. Emerald discusses her experiences on the street and the two people she lost to gun violence that convinced her to make different life choices.

She discusses how she is enjoying waking up every day and asking herself, “Who else can I become today? What other things am I capable of achieving? Who can I hug on the street to encourage them to take a different path in life?”

Emerald shares with us that young women can be just as volatile as young men, often worse. Whether Emerald is helping a young man or woman, her approach is the same – unconditional love and a hug.

She is on a mission to give back to the city that she “ripped up.’
